Description

We are converting an ET-4-Cruise (https://www.ecolo-cycle.com/product-page/et-4-cruise?lang=en) to an autonomous vehicle in Bay 4 of the Engineering Design Centre. This larger group project will focus on the sensors, computer systems, electronics, software, wiring, and simulation of the autonomous vehicle. While details of the project need to be worked out, some of the anticipated sub-projects include 3D Lidar integration, camera integration, mmWave Radar integration, GNSS (global navigation satellite system) integration, motor control, speed control, turning control and modeling, remote monitoring system, braking control, ABS braking development, speed limiter system, emergency safety shutoff system, wireless override, battery management system, wiring harness design (to improve build robustness), PCB subsystem design (to improve build robustness), remote monitoring system, collision avoidance system, lane detection and lane following system, traffic light and sign detection, global and local route planning system, pedestrian detection system, central and distributed computer controller design, simulation of autonomous vehicle (i.e., CARLA Simulator), emulation of autonomous vehicle (i.e., small robot platform), hardware-in-the-loop testing and integration, artificial intelligence training and training dataset collection, and more. We will also want a student that will help lead the project management for this large team, students to be technical leads for subprojects, and a student in charge of applying for project funding and handling project expenses.
