Description
This project proposes the design and implementation of an intelligent self-checkout system for grocery stores that automatically identifies and weighs fruits using a combination of computer vision, artificial intelligence (AI), and embedded processing. Traditional checkout systems rely on manual barcode entry or lookup codes for produce, which can be slow, error-prone, and frustrating for customers. Our system aims to streamline this process by using a camera to detect and classify fruits placed on the checkout scale, and then compute the total cost based on real-time weight measurement and predefined pricing.
Prerequisites:
Note: At least two students from the Computer Systems program are required for this project. If you are interested, please send me your group members' names, along with each member's transcript and CV. A meeting will be scheduled to discuss the project in more detail. If multiple groups express interest, priority will be given to those with the most relevant background and skill set.
